Some people hold the opinion that parents should plan their children¡¯s time carefully, while others believe that children should decide for themselves how to spend their free time. Personally, I agree that parents should plan their children¡¯s time for the following reasons:
The main reason that I consider parents should plan their children¡¯s time is that children are ignorant to plan their time wisely and purposely. If the children are left alone to do whatever they like, they may use their time unwisely and spend most of their time playing games, watching TV or sleeping, neglecting all other important activities, such as studying, exercising, etc. This imbalance use of time will limit their exposure to broad academic and social activities and bring negative effect to their future development. Thus, parents should play an active role in planing their children¡¯s time and activities wisely, scheduling time for studying, playing, exercising and participating social activities to develop their children¡¯s overall abilities and personalities.
In addition, by arranging their children¡¯s time and activities, parents can teach their children the things they specialize in. For instance, if the parents are musicians, then they can teach their children music, planing piano, singing and so on and develop their interest in music. From time to time, the children will learn a lot from their parents and may become interest in music. And when the children grow up, they may become great musicians too.
Finally, when the parents spend time on planing their children¡¯s time, they¡¯re taking effects to improve mutual understanding and family relationship. As we know, most of today¡¯s family problems come from lack of communication between the parents and the children. When the parents plan their children¡¯s time, they spend more time on their children, communicating and playing with them more. Thus they will better understand their children, and the children will appreciate their parents¡¯ effort. This interaction between the parents and their children will great improve family relationship.
In summary, I agree that parents should plan their children¡¯s time since the children are too young to plan it wisely, the parents can teach the things they have expertise in and the planing itself will improve relationship with each other.
