Some argue that universities should spend much more money on libraries than on students’ sports activities. However, my position is that universities’ budget on students’ sport activities should be the same amount as that on libraries, because it makes universities more prominent, promotes students health and helps students build a good relationship among them.
The most obvious consideration on this issue is that sports activities sometimes can be good advertisements for universities. One example is that the university from which I graduated is quite famous for a strong baseball team. Since some professional baseball players graduated from my universities, not only baseball fans but only ordinary people know my universities. More my university wins the baseball game and the better the professional baseball players who graduates my university act, the better impression people have on my university. Therefore, universities are able to make use of sports activities as advertisements.
Furthermore, students are able to make good use of sports activities for better health. For instance, my university has a good sports gym with up-to –date equipment. We are permitted to use the gym without restriction. I was not the exception to use the gym. Thanks to the gym, I could keep my health best and did not catch a cold at all while I was in the university.
We must also note that sports activities can contribute to students’ good relationship. For example, students of my university go to the baseball game to support our university’s baseball team. Through cheering the team together, students can break the ice and easily get along together. After the game, we usually have a party, drinking and singing, even if the team loses the game. It is the most enjoyable time for students. By the end of the day, you will have a million friends!
These examples clearly shows that spending as much money on students’ sports activities on libraries brings universities many advantages such as the increase of universities’ celebrity and the improvement in students’ health as well as relationship.
It is my opinion that most students will opt for such universities.
